USA travel guides

Everybody thinks about New York City when asked to name one city in North America. It is only fitting that first city covered here in the United States part of the City Travel Guides is New York City. UPDATED 20.06.2005

New York City
This simple and straightforward website has very direct approach to New York City. You will not be barraged with information overload so this is a good place to go and grab the basics about the city.

Time Out New York City
"The obsessive guide to impulsive entertainment" is their slogan. Approach of this site is very broad, but I chose it because they offer wide array of exact information about New York City. This is not their only egg in a basket, but they cover many other cities too. I have listed this resource where appropriate.

Spain travel guides

Spain has several important cities, but when asked, mostly Madrid and Barcelona come in mind. These two cities are our first and obvious travel guide listings, but because of Spain’s vivid history and its present importance as travel destination, we reserve space for other cities like Sevilla, Valencia etc.

BARCELONA

Barcelona travel guide
This travel guide of Barcelona is very structured and informative. Maps, transportation and accommodation all covered in detail and more is coming. Activities section is also impressive but because there is always something going on in Barcelona it is impossible to give complete coverage. Be sure to subscribe their free newsletter. Finland travel guides

Finland is a large country with very low population. None of the cities in Finland can reach the population requirement of one million, therefore the Finnish part of Travel guide directory is just accepting the capital Helsinki. Here are the travel guides that deal with Helsinki.

Guide to hotels and restaurants in Helsinki, Finland
This travel guide blog is very new and for the time being consists entirely of restaurant reviews and few general "How to" articles. Uses fairly lively language. UPDATED 20.06.2005

Organizing blogtory starts

Now there is some kind of haphazard directory organization in place. Though, it doesn’t function yet. I decided to call this idea of combining blog and directory a – are you ready – blogtory. I went to Google, but to my disappointment there already was a site with that name. Nothing amazing, I suspect that owner has just parked his blog directory on auto drive and waits to see if there is any future possibilities for example in form of selling the domain.

In Google, there are just a handful of search results for such a word – blogtory – it will be very easy to follow if it picks up wind. Hah, doubtfully not, but one can try – one must try! So here is to the effort of raising the term blogtory into mainstream (and giving that lucky windfall for the owner of blogtory.com

I steadily turn the blogtory into a working service, as I franticly add city guides from different countries. My own blog about Helsinki will be the first one to land the blogtory (there THE word goes again) of city guides. City specific, yes that is the magic word. Now I start to bore even myself so I’ll be logging out. Moikka!

City travel guides directory blog

Purpose of this blog is to try out something completely new. May I introduce, a travel guide directory that uses standard Blogger technology in order to function as a directory. Applause! Bit theatrical maybe, but yes, very much fun. Sites that will be listed are mostly independent travel guide sites of different cities from all over the world.
